PSC golf from Lewiinski’s Golf Society

Sunday, Dec. 1, Green Valley – Stableford

A Flight

1st Pat Regan (15) 39pts

2nd Terry Mangan (15) 39pts

B Flight

1st Bob Lindborg (21) 38pts

2nd Jum Karagit (19) 34pts

Near Pins:  No 4 Eddy Beilby No 9 Jum Karagit No 12 Jum Karagit No 16 Nick Shaw

The saddest story of the day was that ‘Broad more’ Bob fell completely out of the A Flight hardware with the best score of the day on count back, and there was no sympathy from anyone.  Bob’s 39 points was matched by the Irish pair of Pat Regan and Terry ‘pork chop’ Mangan who filled the two-man podium with better back nines; Pat with the gold and Terry with the silver.

The day’s good news was that Pat’s better looking half Jum Karagit took the silver in B Flight along with two near pins and the days only ‘2’.  If you shed a tear for Bob, spare a thought for Big Gareth who Jum beat on count back.

Bob ‘the Guru of Green Valley’ Lindborg stood atop the B Flight podium with a splendid 38 points.

Monday, Dec. 2, Greenwood A & B – Stableford

A Flight

1st Kevin McEntee (6) 38pts

2nd Charles Cunningham (17) 35pts

B Flight

1st Mike Jefferys (18) 34pts

2nd Jorn Finnerup (26) 33pts

To start the week right, the society decided to open a chapter of the Hwy 331 road warriors and A Flight seemed to weather the ride slightly better than their B Flight compatriots.  Co. Offaly gang man Kevin ‘you know who’ was man of the match with a fine 38 points, three more than his flight mate Charles Cunningham.

Mike ‘the Welsh wizard’ Jefferys stood atop a slack jawed podium with his 34 points while his fellow step climber was Irishman Jorn Finnerup, just a shot adrift.

No ‘2’s were recorded so a rollover to Tuesday.

Tuesday, Dec. 3, Burapha A & B – Stableford

A Flight

1st Ian Pickles (16) 40pts

2nd Bruce Anderson (10) 36pts

B Flight

1st Jim Elphick (23) 40pts

2nd Christian Boysen (23) 38pts

Burapha is a perennial favorite and the challenge today were the A+B layouts.  It came down to two wily seasoned society members to head the standings; Ian Pickles in the premier flight and Jimmy’ two shots’ Elphick in the junior division, both with excellent 40 point returns.  Denmark’s Christian Boysen followed Jim up the junior flight podium steps with a steady 38 points.  Bruce Anderson took the silver in the premier flight but needed the aid of a count back verdict over the unlucky Aussie star Kevin Rogers.

Colin Davis and Freddy Starbeck shared the rollover 2’s pot.

Wednesday, Dec. 4, Green Valley – Stableford

A Flight

1st Reg McKay (16) 42pts

2nd Nick Odnoral (16) 38pts

3rd Kevin McEntee (6) 36pts

B Flight

1st Colin Davis (18) 43pts

2nd Ray Fowlis (36) 39pts

3rd Jim Elphick (23) 36pts

Colin ‘the Donkey’ Davis, who has been a bit dormant lately by his standards, put an end to any speculation, if there was any, that he may be on the decline.  His 43 point lashing was good for the B Flight top spot and man of the match honors.  This meant bad luck for Ray ‘hub cap’ Fowlis and his 39 points and the awakening Jimmy ‘two shots’ Elphick with his even par round.

Scotland’s Bucky boy Reg McKay was the top man in A Flight as his excellent  42 points held off Aussie outbacker Nick Odnoral, who himself had a solid 38 points.  Kevin ‘you know who’ rounded out the flight with a steady even par round.

Reg McKay, Colin Davis Liam McGuiness, and Ed Wyckoff shared the 2’s pot

Friday, Dec. 6, Plutaluang – Stableford

A Flight

1st Freddy Starbeck (14) 39pts

2nd Reg McKay (16) 33pts

3rd Tore Eliassen (15) 33pts

B Flight

1st Walter Baechil (17) 37pts

2nd Mike Jeffreys (18) 35pts

3rd Lou Szig; igeti (18) 35pts

C Flight

1st Christian Boysen (23) 36pts

2nd Jim Reid (27) 36pts

3rd Ray Fowlis (36) 34pts

Freddy Starbeck was clearly man of the match as his A Flight capturing 39 points were six clear of Scotland’s own Buckie boy Reg McKay and Tore Eliassen.  A count back decided who was to claim the second step on the podium, with the scales of justice tipping in Mr. MacKay’s favor, not that Tore was that much bothered as he had the only ‘2’ of the day.

One of the most fluorescent and flamboyant golfers on the Eastern Seaboard, Walter Baechil, is always a welcome addition to the society ranks.  Walter made it a worthwhile trip today as he took the top spot in B Flight with a delightful 37 points, edging out Mike ‘the Welsh wizard’ Jeffreys and Reg McKay on count back.  Reg was the count back victim as Mike followed Walter up the podium steps.

C Flight was won by Freddy’s mate Christian Boysen via a third count back as he outpointed Jim ‘am I losing you’ Reid.  Ray ‘hub cap’ Fowlis rounded out the flight two shots adrift.
