Travellers Rest Golf Group
What a beautiful week! Ok, not if you are an England cricketer or a Man Utd footballer perhaps, but for golfers in Pattaya the weather last week was perfect, with clear blue skies, a gentle cooling breeze and the courses in magnificent condition. It really was a week to make you feel glad to be alive. The King of Thailand celebrated his 86th birthday and God was in his heaven.
The many nationalities of golfers who come to play golf in Thailand could not have picked a better week and the winner’s podium certainly had an international flavor: on Monday it was an Englishman, on Tuesday an Asian, on Thursday a Canadian and on Saturday an Australian.
Monday, Dec. 2, The Emerald – Stableford
On Monday the TRGG headed off to a favourite course of our clientele, Emerald. The very consistent Tom Kett did the business and walked off with first prize but was closely followed by Dorsey Richardson and Mike Rushant.

1st Tom Kett (19) 37pts
2nd Dorsey Richardson (17) 36pts
3rd Mike Rushant (11) 34pts
Tuesday, Dec. 3, Green Valley – Stableford
Tuesday and it was back to Green Valley where it was the turn of a high handicapper to step to the fore. Arthur Kimo had a particularly good day, knocking in 38 points which was good enough to see off the redoubtable Ed Brubaker and ‘Mr. Consistent’ himself, Mike Rushant.
1st Arthur Kimo (25) 38pts
2nd Ed Brubaker (14) 37pts
3rd Mike Rushant (11) 34pts
Thursday, Dec. 5, Greenwood – Stableford
On Thursday the TRGG set off for another favourite course at Greenwood (A and B courses) and it was Mike Rushant who finished king for the day on 38 points. Ed Brubaker again took second spot, with Scotsman Ian Bell finishing third.
1st Mike Rushant (11) 38pts
2nd Ed Brubaker (14) 37pts
3rd Ian Bell (7) 35pts
Saturday, Dec. 7, Crystal Bay – Stableford
On Saturday it was Crystal Bay (C and A course) playing host and it was our new father, Ted Senior, who ran up a real daddy of a score, 40 points, which was far too good for the rest of the field. John Baxter trailed in some way behind to take second and it was a Thai lady Mint, new to golf but showing rapid improvement, who took third place.
Ted Senior.
1st Ted Senior (15) 40pts
2nd John Baxter (14) 35pts
3rd Mint (36) 33pts
