BANGKOK, 22 December 2013 The anti-government People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) supporters will converge on the Thai-Japanese Stadium on Monday to protest against the registration of party-list election candidates.

PDRC leader Satit Wonghnongtoey said the group would ask the protesters now gathering at the Victory Monument to go to the Thai-Japanese Stadium where the election registration would take place. Mr Satit, a former Democrat MP, also stressed the group’s three goals which were to sack Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra from office, to demand a reform before a national election and to persuade the military to take side with the people.

Later at the PDRC’s main stage on Ratchadamnoen Road, PDRC top leader Suthep Thaugsuban asked the protesters to travel to the Thai-Japanese Stadium since Sunday night and surround the place. The protesters would converge on wherever the registration was moved to protest against the polls, he said.

The Election Commission (EC) has confirmed the registration of party-list election candidates will be held at the Thai-Japanese Stadium as planned. Election Commissioner Somchai Srisuthiyakorn said the EC would not postpone the registration and security would be heightened at the venue to cope with the crowds.
