BANGKOK, 22 December 2013 The Prime Minister has arrived in Udon Thani Province amidst a rapturous welcome.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra arrived in Udon Thani Province today and was welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister Police General Pracha Phromnok and thousands of local residents as well as members of the ‘People who love Udon’ political group, at the City Pillar Shrine. Khwanchai Praiphana, the leader of the group held a rally to welcome the Prime Minister and voiced his group’s support for the general election to be held on February 2, 2014.

As for the restructuring of the Royal Thai Police as demanded by the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC), Police General Pracha said the demand would not be easy to comply with, even if the so-called ‘ people council’ were established and a new constitution were drafted, given the Royal Thai Police Act BE 2547 (AD 2004) would first have to be revised for any changes to take place. Therefore, all police personnel should disregard rumors spread in the online community and the PDRC’s declaration.
