BANGKOK, 25 December 2013 – Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has left the northeastern region and arrived back in Bangkok to chair a cabinet meeting.
During the cabinet meeting at the Royal Thai Air Force headquarters this morning, Prime Minister Yingluck, who is also the Minister of Defence reportedly informed the meeting of her order to set up a reform council which will restore the model of a similar council in 1973. The council will be responsible for national reforms particularly in political and legal aspects.
And in the afternoon, the PM will inform the public about the setting up of the council in a nationwide television broadcast.
Meanwhile, the National Security Council Secretary-General, Lieutenant General Paradon Patanatabut, is expected to advise the PM to extend the Internal Security Act (ISA) for another 60 days after its expiry at the end of this month to give the government a tool to better monitor and control the anti-government rally which has been going on for several weeks.
