Auction of kids’ channels closes with combined bid of 1.97 billion baht

BANGKOK, 27 December 2013 The bidding for licenses for children’s digital TV channels has come to a close, with the total revenue reaching 1.97 billion baht and BEC-Multimedia offering the highest bid. 

A total of three digital channels for children’s programs were put up for auction this afternoon. There were six companies vying for the licenses. At the end, BEC-Multimedia emerged as the top bidder, offering 666 million baht, followed by MCOT with 660 million baht and Thai TV Company with 648 million baht.

After two days of the digital TV auction, 23.7 billion baht was raised from seven high-definition channels, 15.95 billion baht from seven standard-definition variety channels, 9.23 billion baht from seven news channels, and 1.97 billion baht from three kids’ channels.
