Bangkok, 8 January, 2014 – As part of celebrations for its 180 years of strong relationship with and commitment to Thailand and its people, the US Embassy Thailand Public Affairs Section is sponsoring the charity initiative, The Color of One Concert.

The musical event brings together a mass choir of volunteer singers for a special one-night-only high energy spirited Gospel/ R&B music concert at Aksra Theatre on 24 February, 2014 to raise money for Baan Than Namchai, the largest orphanage in Phang-nga in the South of Thailand.

All proceeds raised from the concert will be donated to Baan Than Namchai for its ongoing efforts in raising orphans of all ages, supporting them not only with housing, food and clothing, but also in their continuing education, social and skills development.

With worldwide attention focused on the humanitarian needs of South-east Asia following the Philippines typhoon, The Color of One Charity Concert aims to draw attention to humanitarian issues close to home also; Baan Than Nam Chai was founded following the 2006 tsunami in Thailand to house displaced children, and now takes care of some 90 children from impoverished backgrounds.

Ms. Rotjana Praesrithong, chairperson of Baan Than Nam Chai said: “We feel deeply for the people in the Philippines over the Haiyan Typhoon, and are very humbled and grateful that the US Embassy Thailand Public Affairs Section is sponsoring The Color of One Charity Concert to help support the needs at Baan Than Nam Chai. We hope that through this concert there will be greater awareness and support for our work from both Thai and International organizations in Thailand.”

The Color of One Charity Concert is supported by sponsors that include Vivaldi Public Relations, BEC-Tero, The Voice Bangkok and True Visions. The organizers of The Color of One Charity Concert wish to extend an invitation to professional and volunteer singers to participate in the mass choir, and also to sponsors that would like to participate in supporting the 24th February concert through cash sponsorship and donations.

The Color of One transcends religion, race, gender and culture to bring color to life through music that carries the universal message of love, hope and inspiration.
