Japan’s Tsubasa Kajitani hoists the Augusta National Women’s Majority (ANWA) championship trophy.

It took a nineteenth hole, but Tsubasa Kajitani, a young female golfer from Japan, won the second Augusta National Women’s Majority (ANWA) title over young American golfer Emilia Miyacsio. Both finished the tournament at one over par 217, with Kajitani winning on the first playoff hole at Augusta National Golf Club on Saturday, April 3.

The tournament was first held in 2019, won by Jennifer Cupcho of the United States, but it had to be canceled in 2020 due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Its return this year brought together 82 of the world’s top female amateurs to compete in 54-hole stroke play.

Two young Thai golfers participated in the competition, Pimnipa “Phim” Panthong and Jarawee “Wan” Boonchan, but neither made the cut.

American golfer Emilia Miyacsio finished runner-up, losing a playoff on the first hole.
