PSC golf from The Billabong Bar Golf Group

Monday, Feb. 17, Greenwood – Stableford

Greenwood was in great condition today with lightening fast greens and the course was not packed which gave us just a four hour round, which is great for this time of the year.

Out of three groups there were roughly half that managed to beat 30 points, with two-way count backs for first and second and for third and fourth.  Coming in fourth place was Noddy Moyle with 33 points, beaten on a count back by Ivor Smith with the same score.  Second place went to Phil Waite with 36 points who was also edged on count back by the day’s winner, Jack Piercefield who was playing his first game this trip.

There were no ‘2’s so all the loot went to prizes.

Wednesday, Feb. 19, Green Valley – Stableford

Green Valley our normal Wednesday venue also marked a day of remembrance for our friend Darl White, who sadly passed away from cancer the previous Friday and a few beers were drunk on the way round in memory of our good mate.

The course wasn’t packed out and we got around in just over four hours once again.  The greens were good and fast and the scribe, along with Kiwi Bill and Richard Steadman, got a lesson on the way round from good mate Ted Pease, a member of the USPGA who is currently over from Toronto for a bit of warm weather.  When he left home it was about minus 20 degrees.

The scores were very good, with Wayne Cotterell taking fifth place on count back over Bruce McAdam with 22 points on the back nine to Bruce’s 21.  Fourth place went to Aulke with 37 points, once again on a count back with him being beaten by Peter Nixon in third.  In second spot was Paul Bourke with 38 points and first place was taken today by Bob Finley with a fine 39 points.

There were five ‘2’s today from Mal Farquharson, Jim Bell, Peter LeNoury, Mel Hutcheson, and Paul Bourke.

Friday, Feb. 21, Mt. Shadow – Stableford

No rain at Mountain Shadow today, which was good as some courses were rained off further south.  The course was in great condition with the greens, as always, lightening fast and any putt from above the hole was absolutely treacherous.

With six groups playing we were off to an early start and with no holdups it was just about four hours to complete the round.

We welcomed Steve Balfour and his good mate Richard Pennychick today; Steve works with Lloyd Shuttleworth in Iraq and Richard is a security guy in Afghanistan.  Both are here for some much deserved R&R.

The scores were very good and coming in fourth place was Sel Wegner with 36 points, being beaten by Owen Walkley on count back.  Second went to Phil Waite with a fine 37 points but the day was taken by Dave Collier with a mighty 40 points.  Well done mate, a great round on this course!

There was just one ‘2’ today, coming from Brian Maddox.
