Treasure Hill Golf Course

Treasure Hill was presented in very good condition on this Visakha Bucha public holiday. The fairways were well grassed and cut to a good length which allowed some run, and the rough, as always, was challenging.
The slick greens from our previous visit have slowed somewhat, and are very puttable.
As this was a public holiday, there were quite a few more golfers around, but our three ball and two four balls got away about 15 minutes early.
However, the quick start slowed as we ran up to a three ball, and a five ball ahead of them. Early on, there was some backing up of two and three groups and some waiting. The end result was a four and a half hour round, not that bad considering all of the above.
This course rarely produces big scores and nothing changed this time.
Martin Patch, who has hit a bit of form recently, won the day with score of 34 points, winning a countback from George Mueller, his second lost countback in two games.
It’s not fair to call George a Treasure Hill specialist, but, interestingly, he has finished in the first three places in the past six visits here.
Thierry Petrement is consistent and becoming a regular in the placings when he plays at Links Golf. His 31 points got him third spot.
John Chelo would not have been considering himself a place, but with just 29 points was good enough for fourth place.

3rd Place – Thierry Petrement (11) – 31 pts
4th Place – John Chelo (22) – 29 pts
The sky was overcast all day and made for comfortable conditions at the start of play. But it couldn’t last, as the breeze dropped and the day became warmer and more humid.
The brand new carts at this course are equipped with a USB outlet, so my inventive caddie plugged in a fan and clamped it to the windscreen on the passenger side, a very nice gesture and an appreciative customer.
