Thailand’s national police chief visited the Dongtan police box to evaluate whether Jomtien Beach needs a full-fledged police station.
Pol. Gen. Suwat Jangyodsuk and top officers from Pattaya, Banglamung, Chonburi and Provincial Police Region 2 listened to a briefing from Pol. Col. Thanawat Jongjira, deputy commander of Chonburi Police, and watched a presentation on crime prevention and suppression.
Suwat has been pursuing a program of establishing secondary police stations in tourist cities to provide better coverage to areas far from the main station. Stations also would provide better service to the public and reduce crowds and congestion at the main station.
The Dongtan outpost will be reorganized with inquiry officers, report-taking clerks, public relations, officers as well as investigators and patrol officers.
The station also has police on jet skis to supplement marine police.
