Nongprue Mayor Vinai Inpitak and his team check the damaged roadside caused by heavy rain and poor workmanship.

Road repairs that lasted only until the first heavy rainfall have angered East Pattaya residents sick of their tax money going for shoddy workmanship.

A Wednesday storm washed out a stretch of Soi Chaiyapornwithi that only recently had been filled with sand, leveled and paved over. Locals were not impressed.

Nongprue Mayor Vinai Inpitak said the heavy rain was much more devastating than expected to not only the road, but homes as well.

The mayor said he called the unidentified contractor to come back out and do the job properly.

Residents turned up to listen to the mayor’s excuses and seek a solid solution.
