As Thailand smashed through the 20,000 level for daily coronavirus cases Tuesday, Pattaya volunteers are now delivering food to sick patients confined to home due to a shortage of hospital beds.
Chonburi set another record Aug. 4 with 1,678 new cases and ten deaths, 320 of which were found in Banglamung District, which includes Pattaya. Thailand, as a whole, reported 20,200 and 188 deaths.
On Tuesday, Nattakorn Srimongkol, 45, and his team – all dressed in full personal protective equipment suits – delivered rice, dried food and drinking water to families isolating at home, as there are no more hospital beds for them.
The supplies from Khao Phothong Temple near the Mabprachan Reservoir allow people to stay home instead of going out to shop while ill, potentially spreading the coronavirus further.
Nattakorn said the temple accepts donations from anyone willing to help keep the virus at bay by keeping those in isolation isolated.
