A stiff wind in very hot and humid conditions led to some very good scoring at the unusually quite Green Valley (perhaps it was because Brian the Wireless was away back home?) JJ Harney and Barry ‘the boot Copestake shared the man of the match honours in A and B Flights respectively with commendable 39-point returns.

JJ Harney was followed up the podium steps by Mark Pearson who was just one stroke adrift while Peter ‘the right honourable’ LeNoury rounded out the flight.
Peter ‘the silver surfer’ Henshaw lifted the B Flight silver and Pierre ‘the magician’ Bietry took home the bronze as they trailed in by one shot increments.
Good friends Barry the boot and Eddy the Eagle shared the 2’s pot.
Monday, March 31, Greenwood C & B – Stableford

Once again the course and the conditions promised to be a fine day out at Greenwood. Playing off the white tees however turned into a bit of nightmare for most as the scores spiraled out of control with players trying unsuccessfully to manage the tough conditions. It was certainly a green too far for the majority.

Man of the match and top in B Flight was Floyd Briney as he returned an even par round. The Donkey and Martin Childs locked it up at 35 points and only the count back stopped Martin from getting one over the Donkey.
Ian Pickles and Monsieur Thierry Petrement carded the same score in A Flight but Ian left Thierry only the second spot thanks to the count back. Eric Gobert was three back as he picked up the bronze.
No 2’s were recorded so it is a rollover on Tuesday.
Tuesday, April 1, Bangpra – Stableford

It was off to Bangpra to battle the lightning fast greens and the marauding monkeys. Mike ‘the Welsh wizard’ Jeffreys did it best as his 40 points topped B Flight and the day. Mike was two clear of Barry Oats and four clear of that esteemed gentleman Eddy ‘the Eagle’ Beilby.
In A Flight, Terry ‘pork chop’ Mangan and Nick ‘Elvis’ Shaw were locked on 34 points and were left to the perils of count back as Terry edged Nick for the gold. Freddy ‘the quite one’ Starbeck closed the flight on 31 points.
A Co. Offaly gang man who has been a bit quite this trip slotted home the only 2 of the day to pick up the rollover 2’s pot, a missing persons repot has been issued.

The intrepid golfers who took up the challenge of St Andrews, where the advice is that players with handicaps of 18 should practice elsewhere, started out- in awe but generally at or near their handicaps and a slightly springier step into the showers.
Co. Offaly gang boss Kevin ‘you know who’ at last started to show the form that we expect as he took the man of the match honours and top spot in A Flight with a admirable 40 points. Kevin was closely followed up the podium steps by pay window specialist Eric Gobert a shot in arrears.
Last week’s headline boy Ed ‘our man in the White House’ Wyckoff and Ian Pickles went to a count back, both on 35 points, and when the divots had settled there was no room on the podium for Ian.
B Flight was topped out by Martin Childs with a very creditable 38 points, two ahead of the Donkey who seems to cash in here on a regular basis. Sir William Peach esquire tided up the flight with 34 points.
C Flight struggled with the conditions as John Ianson took the top spot on 29 points. Ulrich Sinding took the flight silver a shot back and Bruce Walters plus the Irish pair of Gerry ‘the Irish rover’ Roche and Jimmy ‘good’ Day all returned 26-point hauls. Count back decided it would not be right to separate the two Micks so Bruce got to lift the bronze and Gerry and Jimmy got to share a beer at the bar.
Kevin McEntee, Ed Wyckoff, Thierry Petrement and Matt Doyle shared the 2’s pot.
Friday, April 4, Crystal Bay B & C – Stableford

It’s not often you shoot 41points and do not even make it into second place at Crystal Bay, but this was the fate of A Flight’s Kevin ‘you know who’ McEntee who had his best competition round this trip and still came up short by five strokes. It must have been even more surprising for fellow Irishman John Feehan who fired a great 42 points and still missed out by four strokes.
They were both upstaged by Co. Wexford man Tom Gorey who shot a fantastic 46 points playing of his old handicap as he was top man on the day and top in B Flight. John Feehan took the flight silver with his 42 points as Nick ‘Elvis’ Shaw closed the flight on 35 points.
As you would expect, Kevin’s 41 was the top in the senior flight and he was three clear of Takeshi Hakozaki, with Terry ‘pork chop’ Mangan rounding out the flight with a steady even par round.
The junior flight found the course a bit of a challenge as Barry Oats took top spot with 35 points. Christy ‘the Knight in shining Amour’ rode off with the silver a shot back as Alistair Gall tided up the flight a further shot in arrears.
Ed Wyckoff was by far the happiest golfer as he rolled in the only 2 of the day.
