The Riviera Group and the Regents International School have a long tradition of cooperation in many worthwhile humanitarian projects such as caring for the health and wellbeing of children and their families and helping them to further their education.
The two noteworthy institutions have also cooperated in sporting events by organising the Riviera Group Annual Sports Day on the sports grounds of the Regents International School campus.
The events are not only a fun-filled day of sports competitions but are also an opportunity for people participating either as spectators or athletes to make their contribution to worthy charitable causes.
For the past few years, with the added donations of the Regents School, the organizers were able to collect at least half a million baht at each annual event. The proceeds were distributed to children’s homes, the Banglamung Hospital medical equipment fund, and Riviera’s fund to help children stricken with cancer.
These past two years, the scourge of the Covid-19 pandemic has sadly affected every circle of society. Hundreds of thousands of people are unemployed, businesses are forced to shut down, and extreme hardships have been inflicted on people and their families.
Hope is fading by the minute for Pattaya businesses to open again, allowing people to return to work anytime soon. The continuous suffering continues unabated for the people affected by the economic and health disaster.
Reeling from economic catastrophes, the breadlines are getting longer and longer as destitute people have no other choice but to wait for hours on end in the hot sun to receive food donations and survival bags to take home to their hungry families.
Humanity is still blessed though, as countless businesses, organisations, and benevolent individuals continue to help the needy and the impoverished in Pattaya.
In their continuing mission to help the poor and downtrodden, especially during these days of economic collapse, Riviera Group and Regents International School Pattaya, supported by the Ideal Design & Construction Co., Ltd., and TK Elevator (Thailand) Co., Ltd., organised a food distribution undertaking to feed thousands of hungry people in Pattaya and its surroundings.
The August 20 mercy mission, held in front of the Riviera Jomtien Complex, saw Riviera Group CEOs Winston and Sukanya Gale, along with Regents International School Principal Sarah Osbourne-James and Finance Director Alan McLaughlin, joined by staff and volunteers, help distribute food packages to more than a thousand destitute people who lined up along Jomtien 2nd Road to receive their survival bags.
The Riviera Group and the Regents International School had jointly prepared a total of 2000 survival bags filled with food and amenities for distribution on that day.
Realising that there would be many hundreds of people unable to come to the food pickup points because of health or immobility issues, Sukanya had 1480 food bags given to men, women and children filing past designated distribution points. After these distributions were completed, Sukanya led a team of volunteers to personally deliver food packages to the following neighbourhoods: 100 survival bags to the residents of the Chumsai Community, 60 bags to the Arunothai Community, 60 bags to the Wat Tham Community, 60 bags to the Khao Noi Community, 37 bags to the Pa Sak – Khao Makok Community, 30 bags to the San Dang Huay Yai Community, 100 bags to Najomtien Ban Eua Arthorn, and the remaining 73 bags of food were delivered to various people who asked for help.
