A fantastic night of live British rock music took place on Friday, April 25, with thirty songs of Britain’s top artists represented on stage at the Mantra Restaurant & Bar.
With a six-member band headed by Barry Upton there was music for everyone, and this was the first time I have seen guests hanging over the railings on the mezzanine floor just to watch the action.
The six-piece band performed 30 songs by stars of the British music industry.
Amari Orchid Resort General Manager Brendan Daly and his assistant Richard Margo (who turned out to be a very smooth operator on the dance floor) along with Barry Upton are all to be congratulated on turning this concept into a reality, and if you missed this one then be sure to not miss the next.
A standout performer and a star of the future was undoubtedly Henrietta (the Hair) Rhodes, a younger version of Blondie, who could really belt out the numbers. Her version of “Sweet Dreams” by the Eurythmics was excellent.
The British numbers went from one end of the musical spectrum to the other with songs from artists such as The Kinks through to Amy Winehouse and on to Cliff Richard, with numbers to please everyone (even Janet and Richard Smith cut a rug on the dance floor – great to see you both) and “You Really Got Me” by the Kinks got me on the dance floor as well.
Congratulations Mantra on a really great evening!
