About 10,000 people visited Koh Larn this past weekend, offering hope for resurgent domestic tourism.

Mayor Sonthaya Kunplome reported the good news to reporters Sept. 20, saying the growing number of Thai tourists shows people have confidence in Pattaya’s disease-control measures, despite stubbornly high daily new cases.

Chonburi reported 629 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, 112 of which were in Banglamung District, which includes Pattaya and Koh Larn. The district has seen daily cases remain above 100 even as the province’s daily tally has dropped steadily.

Mayor Sonthaya Kunplome said the figures show tourists have confidence in Pattaya’s disease-control measures, despite stubbornly high daily new cases.

Koh Larn ferries leaving Pattaya are filling up again on weekends.
