The Thai government stated on Wednesday that all target groups will be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by the end of the year, while booster shots are planned for certain groups this year and others next year.
Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said it is expected that almost 60 million COVID-19 vaccine doses will have been administered by the end of October, with between 700,000 and 800,000 doses being administered daily at present.
He said those who have already received both shots of the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine will be a booster shot of AstraZeneca by the end of this year as well. The booster program is scheduled to begin on September 24th.
Mr. Anutin said the government plans to procure about 100 million more doses of vaccines for booster shots for all target groups in the first half of next year, adding that the COVID-19 vaccination situation should improve a lot next year as more vaccine choices will be available, while prices are expected to come down as well.
