Labor Day events take place nationwide

UBON RATCHATHANI, 2 May 2014 – Labor Day events were observed taking place nationwide on Thursday, as employers and employees strive to bolster good relations.

In Ubon Ratchathani, provincial governor Wanchai Sutthiworachai launched the Labor Day event hosted by the provincial administration, with a theme urging workers against narcotics and promoting adherence to the sufficiency economy principle. According to the governor, the aim of Labor Day celebrations this year was to increase public awareness of the importance of labor in nation development.

In Chachoengsao, the provincial administration emphasized on creating interactions between workers and the handicapped. Employers and their employees conducted activities with handicapped persons and provided financial support and items donation to local disabled care agencies.

In Tak, around 5,000 workers, many of whom were of Myanmar nationality, participated in the Labor Day activities hosted by the provincial administration and sponsored by companies that have set up operations along the Mae Sot border.
