Thailand promotes mental health self-check mobile app

The National Mental Health Week is now being observed, with the Department of Mental Health encouraging people to regularly evaluate their own mental wellbeing via an online system accessible on mobile devices.



The National Mental Health Week 2021 event is being held under the theme of encouraging people to examine their own mental wellbeing. Those at the event witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Department of Mental Health and mobile network provider AIS – both parties will work to screen and seek out people who were experiencing mental health problems due to stress and anxiety that stemmed from the spread of COVID-19. The two organizations had jointly implemented a ‘mental health screening report’ function on the AorSorMor Online mobile application to provide a digital tool that can be utilized by health volunteers in various communities. More than 1 million people have gone through mental health screening throughout the past year.

Department of Mental Health Director-General Dr. Amporn Benjaponpitak said COVID-19 has affected the mental health of Thai people in many ways. She noted that self-evaluation via the app was an important channel for enabling her department to monitor mental health problems in each locality, in hopes of reducing future health risks and losses.
