Jomtien Immigration’s waiting area was deserted today after the closure order.

Monday morning saw Jomtien Immigration eerily silent after a coronavirus outbreak last Friday caused closure until 8.30 am Thursday 11 November. The provincial health authority said the unusually long service interruption was to facilitate thorough cleaning of premises and the testing of officers and contacts.

Most foreigners seem to have been aware of the situation after substantial weekend publicity on the internet. The neighboring Sri Racha immigration office remains open for “emergencies”, but cannot access the personal documents of customers whose paperwork is locked up in Jomtien.

Pattaya Mail will visit the Jomtien immigration office daily and will report any updates. Customers with appointments for the closure period, 5-10 November inclusive, should arrive on the first working day and will not be penalized.
