MUKDAHAN, May 22 – A journalist meeting has been held in Thailand to strengthen relations among media personnel in three nearby cities of Thailand, the Lao PDR and Vietnam.

Mukdahan governor Sakolsarit Boonpradit presided Thursday at the Mukdahan Grand Hotel in the Northeastern province of Mukdahan with 63 journalist participants–26 from Thailand’s Mukdahan, 10 from Laos’ Savannakhet and 27 from Vietnam’s Quang Tri.

The project aimed to improve functional media relations among journalists at the regional level, encourage media cooperation and expand the exchange of knowledge and information among the neighbouring countries ahead of the formation of the ASEAN Community in 2015.

On the occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the triplet cities–Mukdahan, Savannakhet and Quang Tri, also known as the East-West Economic-Corridor–for future cooperation on trade, investment, agriculture, industry, transport and tourism as part of the preparation for the AC 2015 where there will be freer flows of information, services, trade and transport in the region.
