The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) said it had already closed more than 4,500 graft-related cases and launched a new scheme called ‘Corruption Risk Mapping’ to prevent wrongful practices in all sectors of society.
In celebration of International Anti-Corruption Day on December 9, the anti-graft body held an online event to declare “zero tolerance” against corruption.
At the declaration ceremony, Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-O-Cha said his administration is actively working with every stakeholder to improve related legislation so that public offices, state-run enterprises, and private firms can keep corruption at bay. Laws and regulations have been modernized to better deal with corrupt practices which come in many forms. The premier also stressed the importance of raising public awareness of the risks of corruption, saying no one should have to tolerate this crime against integrity.
Meanwhile, NACC President Pol Gen Watcharapol Prasarnrajkit, said his office managed to close more than 4,500 cases of corruption this year, and launched the ‘Corruption Risk Mapping’ campaign to stamp out graft from society. More specifically, this campaign ensures transparency in the use of resources, state procurement projects, budget spending, and the distribution of money allotted for post-Covid recovery. (NNT)
