Patrols beefed up at Thai-Myanmar border in Ranong to prevent spread of Covid

In Ranong province, Col. Phumphat Bunrueangkhao, commanding officer of a task force from the 25th Infantry Regiment, inspected the operations of the Khlong Kranai operations team at the Thai-Myanmar border in Ban Khlong Kranai of Cho Po Ro subdistrict, Kra Buri district.

Border patrols have been stepped up along the Thai-Myanmar border in Ranong province, to deter people from illegally entering Thailand and potentially causing a spread of the new variant of the Covid virus.



In Ranong province, Col. Phumphat Bunrueangkhao, commanding officer of a task force from the 25th Infantry Regiment, inspected the operations of the Khlong Kranai operations team at the Thai-Myanmar border in Ban Khlong Kranai of Cho Po Ro subdistrict, Kra Buri district. The team carries out border patrols in areas adjacent to Khamaukgyi sub township in Kawthaung district of Myanmar.


Col. Phumphat participated in foot patrols along the Thai-Myanmar border and inspected natural entryways to prevent the smuggling of agricultural goods and illegal entries into Thailand.



He told the members of the operations team to raise security along the Kra Buri River, which acts as a natural borderline between Myanmar and Thailand, with an aim of preventing illegal border crossings that may result in the spreading of the Omicron variant of coronavirus. According to the colonel, manpower is being allocated toward border patrols and checkpoints as well as intelligence, as authorities aim to prevent persons and items from illegally entering Thailand.
