Last Covid-19 field hospital in Thailand’s Northern provinces closes operation

The last group of Covid-19 patients at Bussakham Chiang Mai field hospital was allowed by doctors to go home on Wednesday, which marks the closure of the last field hospital located in Chiang Mai province while 7,740 patients have been treated in the field hospital since its opening in July.

Authorities officially closed the last Covid-19 field hospital in the Northern provinces on Wednesday.

The last group of Covid-19 patients at Bussakham Chiang Mai field hospital at the Chiang Mai International and Convention Centre were allowed by doctors to go home on Wednesday, which marks the closure of the last field hospital located in Chiang Mai province. 7,740 patients have been treated in the field hospital since its opening in July.



Provincial governor Prachon Pratsakul has announced the closure and returned the premises to the Treasury Department. He said that provincial hospitals will be able to handle any new Covid-19 patients.


Meanwhile, about 500 restaurants with Covid prevention measures in the Muang, Mae Rim, Mae Tang, Doi Tao, and Chomthong districts of Chiang Mai will be allowed to offer alcoholic beverages during the countdown. Customers must be properly vaccinated and able to give a negative RT-PCR test result, while restaurants must be open-air and have excellent ventilation. (NNT)
