Soldiers continue raids on war weapons

BANGKOK, 6 June 2014 – Army officers have continued their mission to crackdown on war weapons. Their three recent raids in different provinces allowed them to confiscate war weapons and several illegal items.

Thirty soldiers were deployed in Chachoengsao Province to surround the home of a 46 year-old man who possessed a number of illegal weapons. During the raid, the troops found at least 50 guns and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition.

Elsewhere in Chonburi Province, five men were arrested for smuggling narcotic drugs. Police seized at least 14,700 pills of amphetamine and 16 kilograms of crystallized methamphetamine or “ya-ice”. Four rifles with at least 100 bullets were found, together with cash amounting up to 372,000 baht.

In the northern province of Chiang Rai, police searched 15 targeted spots. They managed to seize at least 160,000 pills of amphetamine, three handguns, and two grenades.
