Monday, June 9, Eastern Star – Stableford
Eastern Star was the plan of attack today, and the last time we played here the course was in great condition. Today it was pretty much the same apart from some of the greens which were a bit dodgy; however we all played the same course so no complaints.
Playing from the shorter yellow tees didn’t seem to make much difference as the scoring was ordinary to say the least. Taking fourth place was John Player with 33 points while coming in third was Tip Briney with 34, being beaten on a count back by Phil Waite, and in first place was Greg Hill with 35 points; all not a bad efforts chaps considering we only played about 6000 yards. But maybe another day we will beat it!

Wednesday, June 11, Green Valley – Stableford
We played Green Valley as our normal venue for Wednesday, and the course was in grand condition. With six groups playing we got away early and were back in the clubhouse in under four hours. There was no rain but some heavy cloud kept it a bit cooler.
The scores were unbelievable good with 38 points not getting a mention at all. It was a girls’ day out today as they took line honours with some fantastic efforts. I must say a big thank you to Eng Cotterell and Orn for going out in a three-ball at the front with Owen. And Kevin, if your reading this whilst on the rig I know you will send your congratulations to George as he got the only ‘2’ of the day but you would have taken the 100 baht mate as his total points were a mere 24.
There was a count back for third place between Bogie Bill Marsden and Sel Wegner, both with 39 point, with Sel just getting the better of it. Second place meanwhile went to Jittina Tinpranee (Orn) with a fantastic 41 points but alas it wasn’t quite good enough as Boribun Bangbon (Owie) took the top prize with 42 points. Well done!
Friday, June 13, Mt. Shadow – Stableford
We teed off at Mountain Shadow on Friday at 9.30 a.m. and were back at the bar just after 2 p.m. The course was in grand condition and the greens as fast as hell, which is usual here. The showers in the clubhouse have been revamped and are now a pleasure to use.
A big thank you to George Barrie for looking after the boys today as Capt Bob had a day out at the new Waterside Park, and what a course that is when you consider it has only been open for a few weeks and it is well worth the money to go and play it.
But back to Mountain Shadow and Greig Ritchie stole the day with 36 points ahead of John Baikie in second and Mark Williams took third on a count back over George Barrie and Phil Waite, all with 32 points.
Barney Clarkson recorded the only ‘2’ of the day.
