The frequent lack of quorum was obstructing legislation and the prime minister could not be held responsible alone because it was the joint responsibility of the government and the opposition, Gen Prayut said.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha asked parties concerned to prevent the House from lacking its quorum to help pass important laws.

Regarding the House’s frequent lack of its quorum, Gen Prayut said that some MPs could not attend House sessions due to their quarantine. Meanwhile, members of some political parties attended House sessions but did not sign in. He said he suspected if it was a political tactic.

The frequent lack of quorum was obstructing legislation and the prime minister could not be held responsible alone because it was the joint responsibility of the government and the opposition, Gen Prayut said.

“Does everyone want an election? If yes, relevant laws must be passed. There must be House sessions and there must not be the lack of quorum. The important laws that the government has imposed for the public interest must be passed in the parliament.

If everything is problematic, nothing can be solved and it will be back to square one, back to disorder. There have been lessons for all such issues,” Gen Prayut said.

He insisted that he did not want to prolong his premiership. He said he did not desire power and over the past 7-8 years he did not have any vested interest. (TNA)
