PSC 133rd Monthly Golf Tournament

Following the previous week’s AGM, former Golf Chairman Joe Mooneyham was elected Vice President of the PSC and Mark West took over as Golf Chairman, so today’s tournament on Friday June 20 was the swan-song for Joe and an introduction for Mark.

It being the low season, the numbers signed up was less than normal but those who took the opportunity to play here at Pleasant Valley had an enjoyable day, with the weather not too hot and the course in good shape.  Despite the infiltration of a couple of 5-balls, all rounds were completed in around 4 hours.

On the reception desk was Joe, Mark and Nigel and many took the opportunity of meeting Mark and wishing him well, acknowledging that Joe would be a hard act to follow.  Later Joe and Mark received the cards and clearly there had been some good scores posted.

The low gross winner on the day was Mike Allidi (H/cap 3) with a great score of 72 gross.  Jeff Wylie (6) topped the ‘A’ Flight with a net 74 and an unusual situation occurred in ‘B’ Flight when 3 players all finished on 41 points; the count back went to the last 3 holes with Wolfram Krueger (17) being declared the winner.

‘C’ Flight produced the best stableford return of the day with Malcolm Farquharson (26) coming in with 43 points.

We had just a few ladies playing today but with 41 points Rungratree Puangsal (12) was the clear winner.

It was an early finish so many went home before going to The Player’s Lounge where the day’s presentation and buffet was held.  Most of the players came for the presentation, with many bringing their partners and families to enjoy the excellent food provided as well as the excellent drink service.

Nigel then called order and introduced Joe Mooneyham and Mark West, with Joe expressing his appreciation for the support the PSC members had given him over the last 4 years and he said he was sure Mark would enjoy the same support.  He also thanked the PSC office staff, namely William, Noy, and Nigel for their help during his term of office.  Thanks also went to the management and staff of the Players’ Lounge for their hospitality.

Mark then took over and said he looked forward to the role he would be playing as Golf Chairman and announced he had already appointed a golf committee to assist in his task.  He paid tribute to Joe and wished him well in his new role of Vice President.

Nigel then announced the winners and Joe presented the prizes.  The lucky draw followed and then the 50/50 draw which was won by a delighted Bryan Neal.  Many stayed on to enjoy the banter with fellow members and guests well into the evening.

The next PSC monthly golf tournament is scheduled for Friday, July 25, at Pattana Golf Course, with the buffet and presentation being held at Shenanigans in Jomtien.
