Pattaya police arrested a drug addict for the theft of a somtam seller’s gold necklace.
Niwat Kaewbang, 42, was apprehended at his apartment on Sukhumvit Soi 56 March 1. Police had tracked his red motorbike from the crime scene to his home using CCTV video.
Nang Thongsuk, 42, reported Feb. 27 that she was driving her papaya salad cart on Sukhumvit Road when another motorcyclist came alongside, reached over and grabbed the chain.
Police said Niwat confessed and that he sold the gold for 6,000 baht to buy alcohol and drugs, spending the entire sum in two days.
