BANGKOK, 15 July 2014  – The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) indicated on Monday the drafting of the temporary constitution is complete and the charter is expected to be put into use within this month.

General Phaibun Khumchaya, the head of legal and justice affairs of the NCPO, indicated that once the temporary charter comes into use, the NCPO will proceed to amend the law so the public may benefit from the law’s increased relevance and fairness. The NCPO had already issued some of the newer laws through its various announcements and orders.

Regarding the enforcement of the temporary charter, Gen. Phaibun said there were two methods the NCPO could utilize to submit the charter draft to His Majesty the King. It might utilize the normal channel, where the documents will be submitted for royal consideration. Alternatively, NCPO chief Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha might be granted an audience with His Majesty during which the draft could be directly submitted for royal endorsement.
