More than 300 high ranking highway-police officials learned about accident-prevention and community policing through use of police boxes at a seminar in Pattaya.

Maj. Gen. Kosin Hintao, commissioner from the Central Investigation Bureau, opened the July 17 seminar at the Mountain Beach Hotel.

Highway Police Division commander Maj. Col. Pongsak Saengpech spoke to the highway-police chiefs assembled on measures to ensure the safety of lives and property of those traveling on the highways. Topics covered prevention of accidents during holidays, safety of truck weigh-stations, suppression of highway robberies and smuggling of people and goods.

Seminar leaders closed the day with a lecture on the highway police’s bad reputation among drivers. With the coming of the ASEAN Economic Community, it’s important officers do their best to serve the public and not do anything further to harm the image of the police force and Thailand, they were told.
