More than 100 Pattaya students received training in basic first aid as part of a city project to boost the school health program.

Deputy Mayor Wattana Chantanawaranon opened the July 7 workshop for 125 Mattayom 1 students and nurses from Pattaya’s 11 public schools. Registered nurse Kloijai Tonsok and lecturers from Banglamung Hospital ran the sessions offering both theoretical and practical training.

The first-aid course covered multiple scenarios, from fainting to limb fractures, to wound cleaning and animal bites.

Wattana explained that first aid was not as difficult as many kids think and that helping an injured person is not only a job for adults, but children as well.

The deputy mayor encouraged the students to learn how to stop bleeding, revive unconscious victims and reduce suffering.
