Thanakorn said Gen Prayut thanked and praised people for complying with health measures and thus limiting new daily COVID-19 cases at four digits for five days in a row.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha is satisfied with the number of new daily COVID-19 cases which have been below 10,000 for five days, according to the government spokesman.

Spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana said Gen Prayut thanked and praised people for complying with health measures and thus limiting new daily COVID-19 cases at four digits for five days in a row.

The situation started to be stable and growing home isolation reduced the number of COVID-19 patients at hospitals where staff could increasingly treat patients of other illnesses and perform operations, the spokesman said.

However, people should continue to follow strictly Universal Prevention measures to further downsize the COVID-19 caseload, he said.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Health was ordered to follow up COVID-19 situations closely as some countries found new COVID-19 sub-variants. The country had to prepare itself for new situations, Mr Thanakorn said.

Thailand reported on Friday 7,705 new coronavirus cases and 62 more fatalities over the past 24 hours. (TNA)
