Fuel subsidy available for taxi motorcyclists in Thailand

Kulit Sombatsiri, permanent secretary for energy, said the cabinet approved the scheme on April 19 to hand out up to 250 baht per month to each taxi motorcyclist for three months from May to July to convince taxi motorcyclists not to raise their fares.

Taxi motorcyclists can now apply for the “Win Safe” fuel subsidy scheme that the government initiated to freeze their fares.

Kulit Sombatsiri, permanent secretary for energy, said the cabinet approved the scheme on April 19 to hand out up to 250 baht per month to each taxi motorcyclist for three months from May to July to convince taxi motorcyclists not to raise their fares.

The “Win Safe” petrol subsidy is available for 106,655 taxi motorcyclists registered with the Department of Land Transport.

Interested taxi motorcyclists can apply for the subsidy scheme via the Paotang app from May 5 and can start to use the subsidy, capped at 50 baht per day and 250 baht per month, from May 8 at participating petrol stations. (TNA)
