Events

The next Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) meeting will be held on Sunday, July 27.  Everyone is warmly welcome.  The speaker will be Phra Mick Tatanapanyo Bhikkhu, an Australian of Thai extraction, who has been a practicing Buddhist monk in Bangkok for the past 8 years.  The club meets every Sunday morning at the Tavern by the Sea restaurant located on the north end of Beach Road (part of the Amari Orchid Resort).  The program starts as usual at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9 to 11 a.m.

The 2014 Pattaya Motor Show will take place at Central Festival Pattaya Beach from July 26 – August 3.  Situated on the Ground and 1st floor of the shopping mall, the event will exhibit a range of exciting new models of cars and motorcycles and will be accompanied by a Miss Pattaya Motor Show 2014 contest and a mini-concert by Tae the Stars 10 on Saturday, August 2.

The 2014 King’s Cup Pattaya City Marathon will take place on the morning of Sunday, July 27 with the runners setting off from a start point outside the Central Festival Pattaya Beach shopping mall.  The event will incorporate a full marathon 42.195 km, half marathon 21.100 km, quarter marathon 10.550 km, and student/fun run 3.500 km.  Persons interested in taking part can apply in person at the Tourism Department, first floor at Pattaya City Hall, North Pattaya (call 038 253 127-9) or online registration can be made at www.pattaya-marathon.net.

For the past 28 years the Samaritans of Thailand have been providing confidential crisis intervention services over the telephone.  The English-speaking unit, Samaritans English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community.  English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone.  All calls will be handled on an anonymous basis and are free of charge.  Please call (02) 713-6791 (24hrs a day, 7 days a week).
