Department of Agricultural Extension trains farmers to reduce costs

BANGKOK, 25 June 2014  -The Department of Agricultural Extension (DOAE) is training village agricultural volunteers in Nakorn Prathom Province, and plans an extension of the program throughout the country. 

Olarn Pitak, the director-general of DOAE, revealed that the project was enacted in three stages. First, campaigns to promote cost reductions in 59 provinces. Second, cost reduction technology to be transferred to 61,102 village agricultural volunteers in 814 districts, between July 15th-31st, 2014. Third, cost reduction technology to be disseminated to a million targeted farmers.

He also said that rice farmers have to register with the DOAE to obtain benefits such as an interest rate cut on loans for in-season rice crop production, a one percent interest rate on loans, and 2014 rice crop insurance.
