Eight years after escaping prosecution for allegedly stabbing an American tourist to death, a former Beach Road prostitute has been re-arrested for his death in Pattaya.

Kritsana Chumkokkraud, now 42, was picked up by Pattaya Tourist Police at a construction site near Central Road Soi 8 where she’d been working for some time, apparently unaware or unconcerned an arrest warrant from Feb. 17, 2006 was still pending.

The Surat Thani native is wanted for the stabbing death of Tony Lindsey of Hawaii – a crime for which she actually was taken into custody for eight years ago and, for unexplained reasons, was never prosecuted for.

The Pattaya Mail reported in its Feb. 24, 2006 issue that Lindsey was beaten and stabbed around 2:30 a.m. Feb. 11, 2006 by a prostitute and her pimp at the entrance to Soi 7, only 50 meters from the police station.

Lindsey was taken to Pattaya Memorial Hospital where he underwent surgery for stab wounds to the lower abdomen, right rib cage and right wrist. However, he succumbed to his injuries.

Witnesses told police that they saw two suspects, a Thai man and a Thai woman, approach Lindsey on a pink Yamaha Mio motorcycle and begin talking to him. Lindsey subsequently ran across the road to the entrance of Soi 7, where the Thai man allegedly caught up with him and began kicking and punching him, knocking him to the ground. The woman then allegedly walked over and stabbed him before the pair made their getaway.

Four days later, Kritsana was “remanded into custody” and a mugshot taken. No local media heard of the case after that.

However, something went terribly wrong, as Kritsana apparently was released and, two days later on Feb. 17, the arrest warrant issued. By that time, she was long gone.

The Thai man now is believed to be her former husband, Supoj Boonnoi, who remains at large. Media reports suggested they separated the year of the murder. Other reports stated Kritsana was unaware Lindsey had died that night and was unafraid to return to Pattaya.
