Heavy rains measured more than 100 millimeters and caused a runoff that destroyed a bridge which linked Muang and Khun Yuam districts.

The bridge crossed the Mae Samat River and was a part of Highway 108 in Muang district. It connected to four districts south of Muang district namlely Khun Yuam, Mae Sariang, Sop Moei and Mae La Noi.



The runoff destroyed the bridge late last night and it became completely impassable.

Local highway officials sought a Bailey bridge from Phichit province and expected to install it in a few days.


The runoff also flooded about 10 houses in Pha Bong Nua and Mae Sakuet villages after heavy rains had continued for 12 hours. No casualties were reported.

Rains measured 133.5 millimeters in Huai Pong sub-district of Muang district. Local people in risky areas were warned to be ready for evacuation. (TNA)
