Honda committed to using Thailand as manufacturing base

Thai Honda President Shigeto Kimura said the company had added and expanded production lines for multi-purpose engines, power generators, water pumps, backpack sprayers, shoulder-type brush cutters, lawn mowers, power tillers, and boat engines.

A Japanese engine manufacturer has expressed confidence in using Thailand as a manufacturing base. The company aims to increase the share of vehicles produced for domestic sales.

Thai Honda Company Limited said it would maintain its manufacturing base in Thailand, as the company celebrates the milestone of producing 45 million multi-purpose engines. Thai Honda President Shigeto Kimura said the company had added and expanded production lines for multi-purpose engines, power generators, water pumps, backpack sprayers, shoulder-type brush cutters, lawn mowers, power tillers, and boat engines.



The company’s plant is in Lat Krabang Industrial Estate, with a capacity to produce one engine every 16 seconds. The company has so far produced 45 million engines, 39 million or 93% of which are shipped to foreign countries.



For this year, Thai Honda now aims to increase the ratio of products sold within Thailand from 7% to 10%. It is looking to expand its network of retailers from the existing 200 locations across Thai provinces. (NNT)
