During a recent meeting with Thai authorities in Bangkok, the head of Romania’s IT committee vowed to work with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DES) on digital technologies and cybersecurity.
According to Newin Chochaiyathip, an assistant to the minister of DES, Sabin Sarmas, president of the Information Technology and Communications Committee of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies, made the kind gesture.
Supot Tiarawut, president and chief executive officer of the Digital Government Development Agency, and a group of high-ranking officials were also present at the gathering.
Sarmas, who was accompanied by Bogdan Badea, the Romanian Ambassador to Thailand at the meeting, is the designated chair of the 2022 ITU Plenipotentiary Conference to be held in Bucharest.
Newin congratulated Romania’s hosting of the upcoming ITU conference from September 26 to October 14 while informing the Romanian delegation that Thailand would send a delegation, led by DES Ministry deputy permanent secretary Nattapon Nattasomboon, to the event.
The two sides also discussed cooperation throughout the transition to a digital government, collaboration on developing digital services, digital ID, and data sharing, as well as future campaigns on cybersecurity and the interchange of personal data. (NNT)
