Monday, August 11, Pattavia – Stableford

What an inspiration the finish of the US PGA, the last Major of the year, turned out to be for the game of golf.  Half way through the last round it was any one of four who could have won it and the lead was changing hole by hole, turning the whole event into a fascinating and exciting spectacle.  Keeping one’s head in the heat of battle is a talent most of us strive for but rarely achieve.  Unless of course it is a Monday and you turn out for a TRGG golf competition and your name is Charlie Cox.

Charlie Cox for the last couple of months just rolls out of bed on a Monday morning, dons his golf attire and proceeds to walk all over the opposition.  It doesn’t seem to matter which golf course he is playing or who the opposition is – he always wins.  He has certainly had quite a run and the rest of us can only stand back and admire his consistency and cool head.

At Pattavia on Monday Charlie Cox was at it again.  He only needed 35 points to see off all the other contenders.  It took a count back to determine who was second and Liam Horgan and his constant companion ecig (electric cigarette) saw off Roger Wilkinson and his real cig.

1st Charlie Cox (15) 35pts

2nd Liam Horgan (14) 33pts

3rd Roger Wilkinson (12) 33pts

Wednesday, August 13, Laem Chabang – Stableford

On Wednesday the TRGG went upmarket and set off for Laem Chabang where a watery grave awaits the unsuspecting golfer.  Poor old Bob Cannon should have packed his diving gear as by the end of the round he had to completely re-stock with new golf balls.

Nino Dinardo however flew round without a problem and finished well in the lead with 40 points.  ‘Mr Banana-man’ Tim Dalton (he hits every shot with a fade, or should that be a slice) came in second on 37 and Richard Talbot took third spot playing to his handicap.

Friday, August 15, Mt. Shadow – Stableford

Friday saw the TRGG head back to Mountain Shadow to round off the week.  We are now thinking of renaming it Mod Shadow after the only lady in the field, Mod Chaviraksa, overshadowed all the men, and not by a little but by about three streets, she decimated everybody.

1st Mod Chaviraksa (12) 41pts

2nd Derek Thorogood (13) 33pts

3rd Kazimi Narahara (12) 32pts

Good luck to all you golfers for the coming week and if you would like to play a round of golf with the TRGG, please phone Fergus Brennan on 0860567019 or pop into the Ned Kelly Bar in Soi Lengkee and add your name to the weekly lists which are posted on the notice board.
