Chief of Thai Defence Forces presents financial aid to Myanmar

BANGKOK, Aug 20 — Thailand’s Defence Forces chief Gen Thanasak Patimaprakorn on Tuesday presented aid of US$200,000 to Myanmar, aiming to help the neighbouring country solve the violence in its Rakhine State.

In response, the Myanmar ambassador to Thailand U Win Maung expressed gratitude on behalf of Myanmar and praised Thailand for its success in labour management.

Gen Thanasak, also the Deputy Chief of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) presided over the event where on behalf of the Thai government and people, he presented humanitarian aid of US$200,000 to Myanmar Ambassador to Thailand U Win Maung at Royal Thai Army Headquarters, yesterday.

He said Thailand hoped the assistance would help Myanmar ease the hardships of the people in Rakhine State.

The Myanmar ambassador then expressed thanks and gratitude to the Thai government and people, saying the funds would be used to improve the public health system and promote agriculture to further develop the lives of the Rakhine people.

Besides, U Win Maung praised Thailand for its success and competency in managing foreign labour and importing products which helped Myanmar export agricultural products into Thailand conveniently.
