ASEAN Centre for Public Health Emergencies and Emerging Diseases soft launched in Bangkok

The Soft Launching Ceremony took place at the the Bangrak Medical Centre joined by Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, the Minister of Public Health / Dato Lim Jock Hoi, Secretary- General of ASEAN / Public Health Ministers from ASEAN State Members and APEC member economies’ Ministers.

The ASEAN Centre for Public Health Emergencies and Emerging Diseases (ACPHEED) was soft launched at the Bangrak Medical Centre to boost capacity of ASEAN in response with public health emergencies.

The Centre serves as Secretariate Office a centre of excellence and regional resource centre for ASEAN State Members in prevention, detection and response to public health emergencies and emerging diseases. The center also serves to maintain close relations with stakeholders including the ASEAN Member States, other ASEAN organizations, partners and relevant agencies.



The Soft Launching Ceremony took place at the the Bangrak Medical Centre joined by Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, the Minister of Public Health / Dato Lim Jock Hoi, Secretary- General of ASEAN / Public Health Ministers from ASEAN State Members and APEC member economies’ Ministers.



The establishment of the centre was announced during 37th ASEAN Summit and related meetings in November 2020, via video conference following the COVID-19 pandemic; where ASEAN state members have agreed to join hands to build a safer resilience ASEAN Community.

The establishment of the Centre to be established in Thailand was agreed during the Trilateral Meeting on ACPHEED in May,2022. (NNT)
