Police were working to identify a couple whose headless bodies were found floating near their abandoned yacht on Pattaya’s Near Islands.
The bodies of the couple, presumed to be European, showed no other signs of trauma and it was unknown how they were decapitated or if it occurred before or after death. An initial forensics examination pointed toward accidental death or suicide, not murder, police said.
The bodies were found about 500 meters apart Aug. 28 off Koh Sak. Both were fully clothed and not in swim or dive gear.
About 800 meters from the body of the male victim a Lagoon 400 luxury catamaran named the “Cat Rynna” was moored. Marine police reported it had been anchored there for about 10 days and, upon inspection, still had its cabin locked.
Police were investigating to determine the victims’ names and origins, as well as that of the boat and their cause of death.
