Police have seized assets worth over 200 million baht from an executive of an illegal cryptocurrency trading firm in Chiang Mai province.

Pol Lt Gen Kornchai Klayklueng, the commissioner of the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB), disclosed that police have seized the assets of Kittikorn Inta, Chief Executive Officer of P Miner Cryptocurrency Group Co, and his girlfriend, Natthawadee Prompanya. Police from the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) raided the suspects’ houses and seized several luxury cars, 117 bank account books with deposits totaling 112 million baht, along with valuables totaling more than 200 million baht.

The warrants were issued for the couple after they allegedly used online platforms to lure people into applying for membership and investing in the firm’s more than 30 cryptocurrency mining schemes without paying promised dividends. Complainants said they would receive an investment contract outlining the number of returns on their investment, giving the impression that the company’s business was legitimate. However, after a few months of returns, the company would declare a liquidity problem and stop paying dividends, and the victims would be unable to contact any of the executives afterward.

341 victims have filed complaints with police via thaipoliceonline.com, totaling 439 million baht in damages. Another 500 victims have filed complaints with the Department of Special Investigation (DSI).

Police officials said they will continue to pursue the executives involved to bring them to justice.
