Water remains at manageable levels in Ayutthaya and this year the central plain province will not suffer such severe flooding as that in 2011, according to the chair of the Ayutthaya Chapter of the Federation of Thai Industries.
Bongkote Jamtawee, chairwoman of FTI’s Ayutthaya Chapter, told the MCOT News FM 100.0 radio station that public and private organizations in the province collaboratively prepared to cope with flooding and local water levels were at manageable levels.
She said the problem was that rain began earlier than expected and thus local farmers were asked to harvest within Sept 15 so that their farmland could be used to receive rainwater and deluges from the North.
All flood-prevention systems were well maintained and foreign investors remained confident that the 2011 flooding would not recur in Ayutthaya, Ms Bongkote said. (TNA)
