Rescue units were summoned to Mabprachan reservoir on Sept. 13 to search for a person who had gone out to lay fish traps in the middle of the lake the night before, and hadn’t returned to shore the next morning.
Sanguan Puttan, 42 told police that he and his friend 47-year-old Boonsuan Somsanor, a construction contractor, had gone to the reservoir together to fish at night as they had done many times before. He said that his friend rowed off to the middle of the lake in a small fiber-glass boat to lay fish traps. He chose another side of the lake to fish.
They were supposed to meet in the morning and go home together, but Boonsuan was no where to be found. Sanguan went out to the middle of the lake and swam around looking for his friend but to no avail.
Fearing the worst, he called the city rescue unit for help. Scuba divers searched the area where they believed the man could have fallen into the water, but after 3 hours of thorough searching, they only found a flashlight that belonged to Boonsuan, but unfortunately did not find the man.
His wife and family watched anxiously as the rescue units performed their search operations praying and hoping that her husband would be found alive. At press time, the ill fated man was still missing.
