327 students receive scholarships from YWCA

The YWCA Bangkok-Pattaya Center handed out more than 540,000 baht in scholarships to celebrate the 25th year of the organization’s Warm Family program.

Chairwoman Praichit Jetpai and former head Nittaya Patimasongkroh did the honors Aug. 29 at the Diana Garden Resort. The Warm Family project is backed by donations from 84 groups and individuals, including the Pattaya Sports Club and local Rotary clubs.

Scholarships were presented to 327 grade- and high-school students, as well as those in vocational schools and college.

Pattaya public school students were given 59 scholarships, while 172 were handed out to 33 other Chonburi primary schools and four secondary schools.

Seven went to Banglamung Industrial and Community Education College, nine to Thai-Austrian Technical College, two students from Burapha University, one from Chulalongkorn University, two from Rajabhat Rajanagarindra University, and one student from Naresuan University for a total of 541,500 baht.

Each school nominated well-performing students facing financial hardship. The Warm Family program aims to help the poor, but also keep kids away from drugs and prostitution.
