The bright lights of nightlife venues in Soi LK Metro Pattaya off Soi Buakhao reflect in the rainwater as residents and tourists wade through the flooded street during the deluge Wednesday night.

Tourists danced in the rain and motorists groaned as floods crippled Pattaya once again.

Heavy rain Sept. 21 left all the usual places flooded with 20 centimeters to a meter of runoff. Beach, South, Third, Sukhumvit and the railway-parallel roads were inundated, along with Soi Buakhao and Walking Street.
Cars broke down and some vehicles were swept away, resulting in damage, but no injuries.

Not everyone was cursing the rain. Single tourists were spotted dancing and frolicking in the streets. But family groups were less pleased, with their tours canceled and were stuck in their hotels with antsy kids.

The next morning, Pattaya City Hall mobilized sanitation workers to clean up all the garbage washed around by the floodwaters.

Pattaya Beach Road was void of traffic and tourists as all night tours were cancelled and the visitors were forced to stay in their hotels.

Sections of Sukhumvit highway were inundated as usual as traffic crawled through high waters at a snail’s pace.
